Splash City

It's that time of the year again. The time of year that many students dread. The time of year that H.S. Seniors love. It's time. . . to go back to school. Yup. The late nights out are over. Vacations have been taken. Church youth outings accomplished. Summer love is fizzling. It's time to go back to school.
Well at New Yu Youth Movement we decided to end Summer with a bang! NY2M invaded Splash City, in Collinsville, IL, on August 23rd. We had a great time. Giggling, splashing, wrestling around in the water. And that was just the adults! But seriously, our students had a great time. It was a day that they weren't worried about getting shot in their neighborhood. They weren't concerned about getting jumped at the corner store. No one was trying to sell drugs to them. It was a day that they could just be kids.
I thank God for days like this. He is so rich in grace and mercy. On August 23rd, in Collinsville, IL, joy radiated from the faces of 25 young people. They laughed and bonded with one another. They closed out the Summer of 2008. Soon they'll return to class. I pray that they're able to keep this day in their hearts as a reminder that God has not forgotten them.
