"When I was a child, my speech, feelings, and thinking were all those of a child; now that I am an adult, I have no more use for childish ways." 1 Corinthians 13:11 (GNT)
There was a time when the title "teenager" didn't exist. You were either a child or an adult. No in between. One could be judged by the standards of adults, but your speech, feelings, and thinking were still those of a child. You see, there's a period in between childhood and adulthood. It's called adolescence. And while most adults are familiar with adolescence, we've forgotten what it's like to be an adolescent.
The definition of adolescence is this: The state or process of growing up, the period of life from puberty to maturity terminating legally at the age of majority.
There's a 7yr window from childhood to adulthood. These years can be the most turbulent years of a persons life. Your hormones are raging, you body is changing and a desire to be independent develops. The desire to be independent is present, however, the tools to be independent are lacking. They will say the first thing that pops into their minds. They will behave in a reckless manner. They'll behave like they're indestructible. Teenagers will behave as if they don't need you. All the while knowing that they're unable to make it on their own.
There's a period of life that passes like a blur. So quickly you may not be able to remember all of the details. It's tough. Challenging. And somewhat lonely. In between time adolescents need you. Yes, you! Imperfect you. Don't know all of the answers you. Child of God you. Each of us has something to offer. God has put something in you that can be used to assist a teenager in her growth and development. So come on, get of the stands and get in the game. You know where to find us.
We exist to Inspire and Motivate students to seek Christ, Pursue a relationship with Him, Accept His unconditional love, Connect with other students, and Tell someone about Him. We will IMPACT this generation for Christ!
